Green
Mountain
Rug School
With thirty years of
experience teaching students at all levels,
Green Mountain
Rug School offers traditional and contemporary rug-hooking
classes annually, in June, on the scenic
Vermont Technical
College campus, in Randolph Center, Vermont. Classes range
from wide-cut, primitive, and folk art to fine-cut,
shading, pictorials, dyeing, penny rugs, and
beginner's-level instruction. Teachers hail from all over
the United States and Canada. Rug
exhibits and a well-stocked rug supply shop are open
daily.
Local Rug Hooking
Classes &
Hook-ins
Green Mountain Hooked Rugs offers rug hooking
classes at the shop in Montpelier. These four-hour classes are $25 and are held
the third Saturday of the month, October through May. Hook-ins are also offered
on the first Saturday of the month, October through May. These free gatherings
bring rug hookers together to exchange ideas while hooking in a comfortable
setting, much like the traditional "sewing circles" of a past era. The shop is
open for supplies during classes and hook-ins.

Other
Classes Instructed by Stephanie Allen-Krauss
Oct. 22-25,
2012: ATHA Region 1 School held at
The Inn at Church
Landing (The Inns & Spa at Mill Falls), Meredith, NH, on Lake Winnipesaukee.
Open Class: Stephanie offers an open class where
all designs, cuts, and levels of experience are welcome,
including beginning rug hookers. The class content is
geared to the specific needs of the students, and she
encourages students to listen and participate as she
works with individuals during the class time. Start a
new pattern or bring a project that might be giving you
trouble. Stephanie enjoys problem-solving and is skilled
with details of pictorials, color planning and
finishing. She will contact students prior to the class
to learn more about each student's particular interests.
Stephanie is the director of Green Mountain Rug School
and Fall Fiesta of Rug Hooking, and she has a
fully-stocked rug shop in Montpelier, Vermont. In 2010
she received the Vermont State Governor's Heritage Award
as best traditional artist of the year. Her work can be
seen at GreenMountainHookedRugs.com. For more
